Be Aware
Posted on April 30 2018
I'm sure, like me, you're soo caught up in your everyday life - balancing work, family, taking care of our homes, those errands that never seem to end - and hopefully finding time for some fun with our friends!!!
Unfortunately, with everything we juggle, taking care of ourselves can sometimes be put on the back burner.
Even though September is deemed Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, I'm dedicating this month's blog to the fight for a cure for Peritoneal Cancer (known as ovarian cancer's cousin).
As mother's, daughters, and grandmother's - we owe it to ourselves and our family!!! This past summer, it hit way to close to home.
In June of 2017, my sister Donna and her husband were on an idyllic vacation in Turks and Caicos, when it came to a screeching halt when she fell ill. By July, she was diagnosed with peritoneal cancer at MD Anderson in Houston. With unbelievable luck, Donna found her way to world renowned surgeon Dr. Pedro Ramirez (google his appearance on DR. Oz). I am sooo happy to be able to say she is doing amazing and on the road to recovery!!!
With all that being said, this Mother's Day I'm going to be extremely grateful - focusing on fun and family and trying to decide how I want to spend the day -which, of course, will then dictate my outfit!!!
My first choice might be a nice, quiet brunch at home…fun new John Eshaya mothers day tee, Current Elliott jeans, Golden Goose sneak or even barefoot - and a swipe of lipgloss - loving my new Lancome long wearing gloss (and it isn't drying )
Another option might be El Camino on Las Olas - just opened right behind the Riverside Hotel- easy, fun vibe and food is delicious..a handpainted Jaga duster worn over my Moussy jeans and Marsell bootie fit the bill....
and....if I'm in the mood to really indulge- and have some amazing Mimosa's- we'll hit the Sundy House in Delray..my Michelle Jonas slip dress with a Loeffler Randall Sandal will be perfect!!!
However you decide to celebrate your Mother's Day, may you enjoy!!!
